Clann Nan Con

Clann Nan Con was formed in 1998 by a group of long-time Civil War re-enactors who were looking for a new challenge.  Their aim was to give as accurate a portrayal as possible of the early Scottish settlers of Georgia, as well as those who fought for Scottish independence during the risings of the late-17th to mid-18th centuries. Each man wears clothing accurate to the period, made of real Scottish tartan material, and carries historically accurate traditional weapons and accouterments.

Clann Nan Con portrayed the Highlanders in History Uncovered, a new movie developed for Fort Frederica National Monument. The group sets up living history encampments at Highland games and Celtic festivals across the Southeast.

Clann Nan Con is at the heart of living history events at Forts Frederica and King George on the Georgia coast. The group has also participated in wilderness treks through the Cohutta Wilderness and a boat trek from Fort King George to Fort Frederica. Georgia Falconry Association

Falconry, one of the world’s oldest hunting sports, is defined as the taking of wild quarry in its natural state and habitat by means of a trained raptor. No one knows for sure when and where falconry began but, based on pictoral records, it is thought that it originated in either Asia or the Middle East about 4,000 years ago. Prior to the invention of firearms in the early 17th century, raptors were used as a method of obtaining food. The term ‘falconry’ covers all trained birds of prey, not just the birds known as falcons.
Falconry is the most highly regulated of all hunting sports today. Permits and licenses are required from the US Fish and Wildlife Service as well as all states. There are rigid regulations addressing the possession, care and flying of birds for falconry.

Red Creek Farms

Carol Anne Bailey and her Father, Hubert Bailey, conduct educational and entertaining herding demonstrations of amazing border collies.  We use sheep, ducks and lots of Border Collies. We demonstrate the way the Border Collies are trained to listen to the whistles and voice commands of the handler, their ability to move and contain livestock, and the ability to work with several dogs at one time.
